What Happened to MY Tokyo 2020 Olympic Ticket

The decision was done. IOC, IPC, the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Japanese Government released Joint Statement on Spectator Capacities at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 on 21 June.

I’d been waiting for the decision for long. It’s so important to me because I HAVE AN OLYMPIC TICKET!

Will There Be Spectators at the Tokyo 2020?

The answer for this question is YES.

According to the statement,

In light of the government’s restrictions on public events, the spectator limit for the Olympic Games will be set at “50 per cent of venue capacity, up to a maximum of 10,000 people” at all venues.

Hmm… It seems my Olympic ticket for gymnastics will meet the condition to enter! And I hear most of other tickets will, too.

The problem is the most popular ticket holders because the final decision hasn’t been done for them. There’s a possibility that they must win the ticket once more or they’ll lose it all! Poor ticket winners, the stressful time to wait still lasts for them…

For now, I’m waiting for the letter from the Organising Committee. The new chairperson Hashimoto said at the press conference that they would send mails to the Olympic ticket holders. At least I want to read it as soon as possible.

Tokyo 2020 For Travel Industry

I remember some of you were so excited when you got the Tokyo 2020 tickets back in 2019. And fortunately, I got a ticket, too. Do you remember we shared the happy moment?

Tokyo 2020 WAS a hope for Japan’s travel industry. I see many hotels that opened to welcome travelers from all over the world. I posted some pics of the renewed Ueno Station.

As a travel blogger, I was one of the excited people. I started up Tokyo Direct Guide for international travelers who get lost in the complicated city, and then, Tokyo was elected to the next host of the Olympic & Paralympic Games! That’s definitely MY stage!!! I had many ideas to write here such as “The Easiest Guide to Go to the Olympic Stadium” and more.

But later, everything changed as you know so well.

Tokyo 2020 was postponed at first. And this spring, the Olympic organizations decided foreign spectators (it’s you!) wouldn’t be accepted. You got refunded, didn’t you?

No matter how the Tokyo 2020 will be like, I’ll look back at things that happened for it in a few months. Stay tuned!
